Overview

Online learning website development for course businesses

Raqbash is an online course platform development company in India handling online learning website development for course creators, training companies and edtech startups. The work spans online learning website design for course pages, the lesson player and checkout, and the engineering underneath: video streaming, payments, progress and certificates. We build the platform you sell on. We don't award qualifications or vouch for what a course teaches.

Course businesses succeed on completion and retention, not just sign-ups. That means fast video that doesn't buffer, a clear learning path, payments that work for Indian learners, and content protection so your courses aren't trivially copied. We build the platform around those realities.

One team

Online learning website design and development, one team

A course platform is a product learners log into every week. Its sales pages, lesson screens and checkout need to be designed and engineered as one system.

Design

  • Course landing pages that show the syllabus, a free preview lesson, the instructor and the refund terms before the price.
  • A lesson player layout with notes, resources and the next-lesson button placed where a thumb can reach them.
  • Progress views that show a learner how far they have come and what is left, which is what brings people back.
  • Checkout screens with UPI first, cards and EMI next, and no surprise charges at the final step.
  • Instructor screens for uploading lessons and answering learner questions, designed for people who aren't technical.

Development

  • Adaptive streaming through Mux or Cloudflare Stream, with signed playback URLs that expire.
  • Drip schedules, prerequisites and cohort start dates enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface.
  • Razorpay or Stripe subscriptions, bundles and coupons, with webhooks that unlock access the moment a payment clears.
  • Quiz logic, completion rules and certificate generation, with a public verification link for each certificate issued.
  • Learner analytics on completion and drop-off points, collected with consent and limited to what you will act on.

The same team that sketches the lesson screen writes the access rules behind it, so a locked lesson in the design is locked in the code.

What we build

E-Learning Platform Website Development Services

Six capabilities cover almost every course-platform brief we take on, from a single creator selling one flagship course to a multi-instructor marketplace with subscriptions, cohorts and a community.

  • Course & Curriculum Builder

Structured courses, modules and lessons with a clear learning path, prerequisites and drip scheduling, so a learner always knows what comes next.
  • Smooth, Protected Video

Adaptive-bitrate streaming through a real video provider, with signed URLs and DRM-style protection that makes casual copying expensive: deterrence rather than a guarantee.
  • Quizzes, Progress & Certificates

Assessments, progress tracking and completion certificates that give a learner a reason to finish: worded as the completion records they are, never dressed up as credentials.
  • Payments & Subscriptions

One-off, subscription and bundle pricing through hosted checkout with UPI, cards and EMI, plus retry handling so a failed payment isn't a lost learner.
  • Learner & Instructor Dashboards

Dashboards for learners to resume where they stopped and for instructors to manage content, cohorts and revenue, with role-based access separating the two.
  • Community & Support

Discussion, Q&A and support features that lift retention and turn a course anyone could have bought into one they stay inside.

Completion, protection & payments

Completion, Protection & Payments That Actually Clear

Three things decide whether a course business works: whether the video plays on a mid-range phone, whether learners finish, and whether the payment clears the first time. We build for all three, and we're straight with you about where content protection stops.

Video That Holds Up On An Indian Connection

Adaptive-bitrate delivery through a real video provider, tested on a mid-range Android over mobile data rather than on office fibre. Buffering is the leading cause of refunds in this category, which makes playback a commercial concern rather than a technical nicety.

Built For Completion, Not Just Sign-Ups

Resumable progress, a visible path, drip scheduling and nudges that arrive when a learner stalls. A sign-up earns revenue once; a learner who finishes buys your next course and tells someone about it.

Protection That Is Honest About Its Limits

Signed URLs, encrypted streaming and watermarking make copying expensive and traceable. They do not make it impossible: a screen recorder still exists, no vendor can promise otherwise, and anyone telling you they can is selling you something.

Payments And Refunds That Clear The First Time

UPI, cards and EMI through hosted checkout, retry handling when a payment fails, subscription mandates where your provider supports them, and your refund policy visible at the point of payment rather than three clicks into a footer.
  • Signed-URL and DRM-style content protection to deter piracy
  • PCI-DSS scope minimised via hosted checkout (no card data on your servers)
  • Consent-based handling of learner data, with parental consent where minors are involved, under India's DPDP Act
  • WCAG-conscious accessibility so learning content is usable by everyone
  • HTTPS/TLS everywhere and secure session handling

Why Raqbash

Choosing an Online Course Platform Development Company

Course businesses pick an LMS website design agency on proof: we have shipped this exact product, we engineer playback for the networks learners actually use, and we tell you where content protection stops.

4.9 rated on Google Reviews
  • We Have Shipped This Exact Product

A course marketplace, a learning management system and a virtual classroom are published under our case studies. Lessons, progress, cohorts, instructor payouts and live sessions are shipped work rather than a discovery exercise.
  • Playback Engineered For Real Networks

We stream adaptively, lazy-load aggressively and test on the handsets and connections your learners actually use. A course that stutters gets refunded no matter how good the teaching is.
  • Straight Answers About Protection

We will tell you exactly what signed URLs, encryption and watermarking do and where they stop. You can plan a business around a real boundary; you cannot plan one around a promise that was never true.
  • Checkout Built For Indian Learners

UPI first, cards and EMI alongside, retries on failure and subscription mandates where the provider supports them, because the drop-off between wanting the course and paying for it is where most platforms quietly lose money.
  • Off-The-Shelf Or Custom, Honestly Advised

Sometimes an existing LMS is the right answer and we will say so. We recommend custom when a purpose-built experience, deep integrations or control of your data and branding genuinely justify it, not by default.
  • Engineers You Can Actually Reach

A senior in-house team you can actually reach on Slack, WhatsApp or a call, accountable long after launch, which matters more on a product your learners use every day than on a site they visit once.

Platforms

Course Platforms We Build

A single creator selling one flagship course and a two-sided marketplace with instructor payouts are different businesses that happen to share a video player. These six each break in a different place.

How we work

How We Build Your Course Platform, Step by Step

Six phases take your platform from first conversation to live and supported, starting with an honest look at whether you need a custom build at all, and a pass on pricing, refunds and certificates before a single screen gets designed.

  1. Step 01

    Discover

We map your courses, learners, instructors and revenue model, and establish whether an existing LMS would serve you better than a custom build, before either of us is invested in the answer.

  2. Step 02

    Model & Policy Pass

Before design, we settle what changes every screen afterwards: one-off, subscription or cohort pricing; drip or open access; the refund window and where it appears; what your certificate will actually say; and who owns learner data.

  3. Step 03

    Design

We design the player, the path and the checkout first, because those three screens decide whether a learner finishes and whether they ever pay you twice.

  4. Step 04

    Develop

We build the curriculum engine, protected video delivery, assessments, dashboards and hosted checkout, wiring in your video provider and payment gateway as their APIs allow.

  5. Step 05

    Launch

Playback tested on real handsets and mobile data, payment and refund flows rehearsed end to end, accessibility and performance checks, and instructor training before the first cohort arrives.

  6. Step 06

    Support

Ongoing support from the engineers who built it: a live product generates a steady stream of edge cases, and a course platform is judged on the week something breaks rather than the week it launched.

Cost & timeline

Online course platform cost and timeline

The three scopes we see most often. Every build gets a fixed-scope quote after a discovery call.

FAQ

Online Course Platform Development FAQs

Common questions from course creators and EdTech founders: off-the-shelf LMS versus custom, video protection and its real limits, UPI and EMI payments, what a completion certificate actually means, refunds, and cost.

Should I use an off-the-shelf LMS or a custom platform?

An off-the-shelf LMS launches fastest and suits standard needs. A custom or headless build makes sense when you need bespoke learning experiences, deep integrations or full control of branding and data. We recommend based on your model and roadmap.

How do you keep course videos smooth and protected?

We use a proper video provider with adaptive-bitrate streaming so playback stays smooth on varied connections, plus signed URLs and DRM-style protection to make videos hard to download and resell.

Can learners pay by UPI, cards or EMI?

Yes. We integrate hosted checkout supporting UPI, cards and EMI, and support one-off, subscription and bundle pricing so you can sell courses the way your learners prefer to pay.

Can you add quizzes, certificates and progress tracking?

Yes. We build assessments, progress tracking and completion certificates, which are the features that drive engagement and improve course completion rates.

Can you stop people pirating my course videos?

We can make it expensive and traceable, and we won't tell you we can make it impossible. Signed URLs that expire, encrypted adaptive streaming and per-learner watermarking stop casual downloading and re-uploading, and watermarking means a leaked file usually points back to the account it came from. What none of it defeats is someone pointing a screen recorder at the screen. That is true of every platform, including the large ones, and any agency promising unpirateable video is either mistaken or hoping you won't test it. In practice the businesses that lose least to piracy are the ones whose value sits in cohorts, feedback and community, which a copied video file cannot reproduce.

Is a completion certificate from my platform a recognised qualification?

No, and the certificate should say so plainly. A certificate your platform issues records that a learner finished your course: it is not a degree, an accreditation or a qualification recognised by any authority unless you have independently obtained that recognition. We build the certificate to state exactly what it is, and we won't style it to look like a university document, because a learner who later discovers the distinction blames the platform rather than the design. Raqbash is not a school, university, board or examination body, and we award, validate and accredit nothing.

How are refunds handled?

The terms are yours to set; our job is to make them visible before someone pays rather than after. We put the refund and cancellation policy at the point of payment in the checkout, not three clicks into a footer, and we build the refund mechanism your payment provider supports so your team can process one without a developer. To be clear about the boundary: Raqbash never holds, moves or refunds money. Hosted checkout keeps card data off your servers, which minimises your PCI scope rather than making either of us PCI-certified.

How much does an online course platform cost?

It depends on scope: a focused course site is far smaller than a full multi-instructor platform with video, payments, community and dashboards. We quote a fixed scope after a discovery call.

Do you do both online learning website design and development?

Yes. One team owns the online learning website design and the online learning website development, from the first course-page sketch to the payment webhooks. On a course product, the rule for who can watch which lesson is both a design decision and a line of code, so splitting them between agencies tends to break it. You work with a single lead from discovery to launch.

Can you move my courses off Teachable, Thinkific or another platform?

Usually, yes. We export what your current platform lets you export, typically lesson videos, course structure and learner lists, then map it into the new build and plan how existing learners keep their access. Some platforms don't export progress or quiz history. We check that during discovery instead of promising it.
