Overview

Payment App Development Company in Ahmedabad

A payment app lets people pay by UPI, QR code, card or wallet, and lets merchants see what they have collected. Raqbash builds the consumer app, merchant app and ops panel for fintechs and their bank partners.

The licence question comes first. A non-bank UPI app usually runs as a third-party app through a sponsor PSP bank, with NPCI approval. A wallet needs RBI authorisation as a prepaid payment instrument issuer, yours or a partner's. We design inside whichever model you have, and work alongside your compliance team on each rule.

The app ecosystem

The Payment App Ecosystem We Build

A payment product is three apps reading one ledger, so everyone sees the same status.

  • Consumer app

For people paying shops, friends and bills.

    • Link a bank account and set a UPI PIN
    • Scan any UPI QR and pay
    • Pay bills and recharge
    • See history and raise disputes
    • Hold a wallet balance, if licensed
  • Merchant app

For kirana stores, chemists and small retailers.

    • Show a static or dynamic QR
    • Hear each payment arrive
    • Track settlements to the bank
    • Issue full or partial refunds
    • Download daily statements
  • Ops & reconciliation panel

For your payments, risk and support teams.

    • Match app, PSP and bank records
    • Work the dispute queue
    • Onboard and verify merchants
    • Set velocity and payee limits

Key features

Key Features of a Payment App

Six features cover the moments people actually open a payment app.

  1. Scan and pay any UPI QR

Any UPI QR shows the bank-verified payee name before an amount is typed.

  2. Bill payments through Bharat Connect

Electricity, gas, FASTag and EMIs, fetched and paid through an authorised Bharat Connect operating unit.

  3. Wallet, where a PPI licence allows

Add money, pay and see limits. It runs only under an RBI PPI authorisation held by you or a partner.

  4. Plain status, disputes from the payment itself

Plain status words, and complaints raised from the payment through NPCI's dispute process via your PSP bank.

  5. Merchant collections, live

Each payment lands with a voice alert and a running daily total.

  6. Settlements and refunds in one view

What has settled, what is in transit, and refunds back to the original method.

How it works

How a Customer Makes a First Payment

Five steps, and the first three happen only once.

  1. Step 1

    Verify the phone

An SMS from the SIM binds this device to the mobile number.

  2. Step 2

    Link a bank account

Pick the bank; accounts on that number appear.

  3. Step 3

    Set the UPI PIN

Debit card or Aadhaar OTP, on NPCI's secure screen.

  4. Step 4

    Scan and pay

Check the verified name, enter amount and PIN.

  5. Step 5

    Track or dispute

Status, receipt and a complaint button on every payment.

Security & compliance

Security & Compliance for Payment Apps

A payment app moves money in seconds, so the phone is bound, the PIN stays out of your code and every payment is reconciled.

  • Device binding and SIM checks

Bound to the registered number, re-checked on SIM change or reinstall.
  • PIN and card data out of your hands

UPI PIN via NPCI's common library; cards via gateway SDKs, keeping PCI DSS scope small.
  • Daily reconciliation

App, bank and settlement files matched daily, breaks flagged to ops.
  • Root, emulator and screen-overlay detection
  • Certificate pinning on every API call
  • Velocity limits and new-payee warnings
  • No full account numbers on screen or in logs

FAQ

Payment Mobile App Development Services in Ahmedabad: FAQs

Practical answers for teams planning a payment app.

Can we launch a UPI app without a banking licence?

Yes, typically as a third-party app provider. One or more PSP banks sponsor your app on UPI, and NPCI must approve the arrangement before launch. The bank's SDK handles the regulated steps. We build the app around that SDK and support the certification tests; approvals stay between you, the bank and NPCI.

Do we need an RBI licence to offer a wallet?

Yes, someone does. Issuing a prepaid wallet needs RBI authorisation as a PPI issuer, held by your company or by a partner bank whose wallet you offer. KYC levels and balance limits follow RBI's PPI directions. We design the wallet screens, limits and full-KYC upgrade around your issuer's rules, with your compliance team.

How does device binding work in a UPI app?

The app typically sends an SMS from the customer's SIM to the PSP bank, which confirms that the mobile number is on this phone. If the SIM changes or the app is reinstalled, binding is checked again before any payment. Root and emulator detection make the bound device harder to tamper with.

Can the merchant app show settlements from Razorpay or Cashfree?

Yes. Both offer settlement and refund APIs and webhooks, which we use to show what has settled, what is in transit and which deductions apply. For UPI collected through your own PSP bank, we read the bank's settlement reports instead. Either way, the ops panel reconciles against those files daily.

Can customers pay electricity and other bills in the app?

Yes, through Bharat Connect, formerly BBPS. You connect to an authorised Bharat Connect operating unit, often a bank or payment company, which opens up billers for electricity, gas, broadband, FASTag and loan EMIs. The app fetches the bill, takes payment and keeps the receipt. Biller coverage depends on that unit.

How do you stop double payments on a weak network?

With idempotent requests and honest pending states. Each payment carries a unique reference, so a retry never creates a second debit, and the app checks status with the bank instead of guessing. A pending payment shows as pending, with a timeline, not as a failure that tempts a second attempt.

How much does a payment app cost and how long does it take?

Typically ₹10–18 lakh over 12–16 weeks for a merchant collections app with QR and settlement views. A consumer UPI app with bill payments, disputes and a merchant app usually costs ₹25–45 lakh over 6–9 months. Wallet platforms start around ₹45 lakh. Bank certification time is outside our control, so we plan it openly.
